BCS School of Dental Assisting prepares students for entry-level positions as a chairside assistant in a practicing office. Offered in Brigham City, Utah, the dental assistant training program is an accelerated course designed to teach students the skills and knowledge necessary to assist dentists and hygienists in all chairside procedures.   • Use suction devices to keep the patient’s mouth clear and dry
  • Prepare materials
  • Set up and sterilize instruments and equipment
  • Remove sutures
  • Prepare dental charts
  • Apply topical anesthetics
  • Apply bleaching agents and fissure sealants
  • Remove stained and soft deposits from the clinical crown of a tooth
  • Selection and placement of matrix bands during amalgam and composite resin restoration
  • Placement of dental dams
  • Fluoride placements
  • Take and develop dental X-rays
  • Take impressions of the patient’s teeth
  • Obtain patients’ medical history
  • Obtain blood pressure and pulse
  • Provide instructions on oral care and hygiene
